Alligator found in search warrant arrest

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A Depew man has been arrested after a series of serach warrants discovered narcotics and an alligator.

Jerry Green, 38, of Depew was arrested after Erie County Sheriff's deputies say they executed search warrants in Buffalo, Depew and Concord as part of a lengthy investigation into drug trafficking in southern Erie County.

Deputies say Green was observed in the front passenger seat of a vehicle traveling through Concord. A traffic stop was conducted, and Green was taken into custody without incident. Resulting from the execution of the search warrant for any vehicle Green was operating or traveling in signed by Hon. James Bargnesi of Erie County Court, deputies recovered in excess of two (2) ounces of suspected methamphetamine.

A search warrant signed by Hon. Bargnesi was also executed at 28 Montclair Ave. in Buffalo. Deputies recovered in excess of two (2) ounces of suspected methamphetamine, in excess of 1/8 ounce of suspected fentanyl and drug paraphernalia. At the Montclair Ave. address, deputies also located a large alligator in a makeshift pool in a backyard shed. The shed was outfitted with heating devices, lighting and dead rodents. Environmental Conservation police officers responded to take custody of the alligator.

Green has been charged with:
• 2nd degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
• 3rd degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance (2 counts)
• 4th degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance
• 2nd degree Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts)

Green was transported to the Erie County Holding Center to be held pending arraignment.

“Crystal meth and fentanyl have devastated the streets of southern Erie County for far too long,” said Sheriff Garcia. “Our Narcotics and Intelligence Unit is taking a targeted approach to root out this problem. This arrest and others just like it should put traffickers on notice.”
