Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Amazon is "primed" to hire over 250,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal workers, including hundreds in Western New York as the holiday shopping season will soon approach. To make the application and recruiting process easier, Amazon has now launched a career center on Broadway in Buffalo.
"We're excited to announce the opening of our Amazon Career Center. We did a zip code analysis, and we learned that most of our candidates were coming from this area. So we decided to come to the people and make this process as easy as possible. When they're welcomed here, we'd go through their entire new hire process, along with their backgrounds, we run their drug testing, everything is encompassed here," said Laurlyn Bush, Amazon's Senior Staffing Manager.
Bush says Amazon is potentially looking to employ 500 people to do work in one of three facilities, Amazon's sortation center in Lancaster, the delivery facility in Tonawanda or the new delivery facility in Hamburg.
Amazon has also been a proud partner with Say Yes Buffalo.
"They're our neighbors, they're only about a mile from here. They are very much aligned to Amazon's Career Choice Program. This is breaking down the barriers for those that never thought possible they could attend college. So this is a pathway for a career with Amazon long-term," explains Bush.
Amazon has helped support Say Yes Buffalo initiatives over the past two years. Most recently, Amazon provided more than $12,000 to assist college-bound Say Yes Scholars outfit their dorm rooms with necessary supplies for the school year.
