Amherst, NY (WBEN) Amherst Police say a suspect in a domestic disturbance over the weekend remains hospitalized.
Police responded to a home on Bailey Avenue Saturday afternoon and found the suspect with a knife. Police say the suspect stabbed one of the officers, prompting another officer to shoot the suspect.
The officer has been released; the suspect remains at ECMC in police custody.
The incident is under active investigation by the Amherst Police Department in conjunction with the Erie County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
The officers involved were equipped with body-worn cameras, and the department and the Erie County District Attorney’s Office are in the process of reviewing the video footage.
Police say portions of the videos will be released at a later time, consistent with appropriate investigative protocols.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
