Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Amherst Police Department is investigating a reported bomb threat at Sweet Home High School in the early afternoon hours Monday.
According to police, there was a call of a potential shooter in the bathroom at the same time the bomb call was made. This led to a lockdown of the school before students were dismissed.
"I actually pushed the button for the lockdown from the district office, and we went to the high school to assess the situation," said Sweet Home Schools Superintendent Mike Ginestre on Monday. "We were met by the Amherst Police Department, and we coordinated our efforts to search the building immediately. We searched the bathrooms related to the gun threat, and we searched hallways related to the bomb threat. At that point, we decided to work with Amherst Police Department, and also they brought in canines to search the building to ensure that we're safe."
Ginestre says officials id not find any credible threats in the building.
The school was in lockdown while the incident was investigated. No one was injured, and students were asked to leave their backpacks as they were dismissed.
