Amherst, NY (WBEN) Amherst Police say a suspect is in custody after an armed robbery on Niagara Falls Boulevard.
Police say the victim stated a man tried to use counterfeit currency to make a purchase at the 7-11 on Niagara Falls Boulevard around 2:30am, displayed a knife to the clerk and then forcibly stole cash out of the register. Several Amherst Police officers were in the vicinity and observed a male matching the suspect's description and attempted to make contact.
The suspect entered a vehicle and led officers on a brief pursuit through Amherst and into Tonawanda. APD officers deployed a Stop Stick® tire deflation device, bringing the vehicle to a stop, without any injuries to the suspect or officers.
Jaidarius Jackson, 23, of Buffalo, was taken into custody and was charged with Robbery 1st (D-Fel), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th (A-Misd), Unauthorized Use of A Vehicle 1st (D-Fel), Possession of a Forged Instrument 1st (C-Fel), Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 3rd (D-Fel), Unlawfully Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd(A-Misd), in addition to numerous NYS Vehicle & Traffic charges.
