Arrest made in shooting near SUNY Buffalo State

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Police make an arrest in Wednesday night's shots fired incident near SUNY Buffalo State.

Buffalo Police say shortly before 7:30 p.m., D district officers responded to a shots fired call in the 900 block of Grant Street and pursued a suspect on foot as he entered a student building on SUNY Buffalo State’s campus. The suspect was apprehended inside. Police say they recovered a Jimenez Arms 9mm handgun.


Savoi Henlon, 19, of Mt. Vernon, N.Y. has been charged with one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds (Class E felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree (Class E felony).

Detectives are investigating reports that the shots fired occurred following an intentional car accident. Several people were apprehended Wednesday night, and interviews are being conducted. Further charges are possible.
