Cheektowaga, N.Y. (WBEN) - Cheektowaga police have made an arrest of a man connected to the death of a woman Sunday afternoon. Police say the suspect also led Buffalo Police on a chase before his arrest.
Officials say they were called to Walden Avenue between Hedwig and Alexander around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. Police say initial reports were a woman was struck by a motor vehicle, and several shots were fired from a handgun by a man driving that vehicle.
Police say 32-year-old Alexis Navaroli of Buffalo was found deceased and lying on the roadway.
The vehicle suspected of striking her was found inoperable at the time, and police say the suspect, 37-year-old Gary Green Jr., carjacked another victim at gunpoint and drove off.
Buffalo police located the stolen car driving inside city limits, and a brief car chase concluded near Jefferson and Best in the City of Buffalo, where Green was apprehended.
Green has been charged with second-degree murder and first-degree robbery. He was remanded to the Erie County Holding Center following arraignment.
The investigation is continuing into the exact cause of the woman’s death and the other circumstances surrounding this incident. Witnesses are encouraged to contact the Cheektowaga Police Department at (716)-686-7457.
