Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Firefighters in Buffalo worked into the overnight Friday fighting a blaze at a four story building that's part of the former St. Ann's Church complex on the city's East Side.

Crews were on the scene at 501 Emslie St. by 10:15 p.m. Thursday, responding to what was then a two alarm fire on the building's first and second floor.

It would become a four alarm fire by the time firefighters had it under control at 3:45 a.m. Friday.

A city spokesperson says the building was vacant and there are no injuries. An emergency demolition has been requested after the building sustained $600,000 in damage.

The origin of the fire isn't known and the cause is currently under investigation.
