Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) - The Bills Community Benefits Oversight Committee agrees to a resolution that addresses community vulnerabilities and youth needs.
During Monday's meeting, Vice President for Stadium Relations and Director for Community Benefits Agreement Penny Semaia, said the resolution aims to ensure youth have opportunities for career development, safe spaces, and support during transitions.
"This goes back to a number of weeks and months even, where our smaller group got together. We researched a lot of the information on what's impacting our region, as well as dialog amongst other practitioners on what really is a highlight. The public hearing that we had as well really focused on the youth. So we wanted to make sure that we were able to pass a resolution today making sure that's a part of our CBA for this upcoming fiscal year," stated Semaia.
Reverend Mark Blue, a board chairman, says the Bills organization places strong emphasis on supporting youth and is committed to providing them with the resources they need to succeed.
"It will let them know that they're visible. Sometimes the power of presence is what's needed in our communities, to let people know that there's other opportunities, other chances, and other organizations that care about them. People don't know how much you care until you show them how much you care. And the bills have been one of those organizations that have been in our community and even have more of a presence in our community," stated Blue.
