BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – The rug was pulled out from underneath some Bills fans who were planning to go to the playoff game on Saturday in Orchard Park.
All 6,772 fans were required to get a test on Wednesday or Thursday. Despite buying a ticket, they had to test negative for COVID-19 in order to get access to the game.
Not everyone did.
"It was just devastating," Chris Kornow, a 24-year season ticket older who lives in Basom, said. "My heart sunk. I just wanted to crawl and die."
He planned to go to the game with his brother, who also tested positive for the disease. Kornow said he feels fine and only has a runny nose, a symptom easily attributed to winter weather instead of coronavirus.
Kornow said he's now isolating from his children, though he's still planning to watch the game with his brother this weekend.
"He's a bachelor so he doesn't have anyone there," he said. "We can hoot and holler and not worry about it…Seeing as we both tested positive…it's just the two of us."
"The amount of support I have gotten from the Bills mafia over receiving the positive has been incredible," he said.
"It's a true family."
If Buffalo wins Saturday's game against Indianapolis, they will host another home game. Kornow said he and his brother are contemplating whether to try and go to next weekend's game, but given that the virus could still be in his body next week, he's not sure if he wants to take the chance.
