(WBEN) - Damar Hamlin's condition continues to improve while remaining at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to statements made by the Buffalo Bills and teammate Kaiir Elam.
The Bills organization released a brief statement Thursday morning, saying Hamlin has shown "remarkable improvement" over the past day, and that he appears to be "neurologically intact."
The team's statement came shortly after Elam had said Hamlin was awake and showing more signs of improvement.
NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport added to Hamlin's condition, saying the second-year safety is awake after opening his eyes Wednesday night. He also adds that he has been able to hold the hands of his family members with him at the hospital.
Hamlin has been at the UC Medical Center in Cincinnati since late Monday night after suffering a cardiac arrest in the first quarter of the Bills' matchup with the Bengals at Paycor Stadium. After CPR was needed to resuscitate the 24-year-old on the field, he was transported to the hospital, where he was sedated and listed in critical condition.
