Orchard Park, NY (WBEN) - After two more players added to the Tennessee Titans' COVID19 reserve list Thursday afternoon, the NFL announced the game set for Sunday would be moved to Tuesday evening at 7:00.
The Bills game against Kansas City, originally scheduled for Thursday October 15, would be moved to later in the weekend if the Tuesday night game happens as planned.
"I don't want to postpone anything. I don't want to cancel anything. I just wanna play football," said Micah Hyde before the announcement. "We're not sure what's going on, we're clueless about the situation. All we can do is practice and prepare like we're going to play on Sunday, and everyone in this building wants to play on Sunday." Hyde says players figured this would happen, but thought there would be a solution by now. Hyde says the team will be prepared.
Tremaine Edmunds says he's just preparing as if the game is a go for Sunday. "Our biggest thing is that the league puts the players in the best position possible. So whatever that may be, they make the decision and we go from there," says Edmunds. "We knew this was going to be a challenge going into the season, and we just gotta accept it and move forward. At the end of the day we just have to prepare for the game and let the decision makers make the decisions."
Bills center Mitch Morse said they've been getting updates through the media on an “ever-evolving situation. It’s really up in the air,” Morse said. “I think it’s an ongoing, evolving situation that all parties involved are trying to do the right thing. I think player safety is No. 1, and then trying to get this game going is the utmost importance for a lot of people, but not at the cost of players’ health.”
Morse says he'd be lying if he didn't have any hesitation, but knew after opting in this could happen. "We trust everyone in positions to take care of us to the best of their abilities, and if they don't deem it safe, we don't play," says Morse.
There's been some talk of a possible forfeit if the game couldn't go Sunday, but Morse says that's not for him to say. "Who am I to judge? It's frustrating for sure, since I think we've been taking the right steps, but who's to say they haven't been taking the right steps and this is just something unfortunate that's happened.
