Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Buffalo School Board members are crying foul over what they claim is a disparity in treatment of districts by Section VI regarding eligibility standards.

School Board President Sharon Belton-Cottman says the district discovered a student-athlete in Amherst was removed from the Section VI basketball roster because of residency ineligibility and then added back on. This was last month, and she says the player was allowed to complete the season and Amherst did not have to vacate wins.

The board contends Section VI forced the Bennett football team to forfeit games in October after an administrative issue was discovered. Belton-Cottman says the investigation was taken without the executive team and consequences enacted before the investigation was concluded. Board members claim requests to address the issue were either ignored or denied.

The board asked that Tuesday's basketball playoff involving Amherst be forfeited or cancelled and that Williamsville South be allowed to compete.

A call to Section VI for a response was not returned.
