Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo firefighters responded to a major fire Tuesday morning at a vacant house at 95 Mohr Street on the city's East Side.
Firefighters arrived around 5:30 a.m. to find the two-story house engulfed in flames.
A city spokesperson says low water volume and rapidly deteriorating conditions forced crews to switch to defensive operations using two tower ladders, one aerial ladder, four 2.5-inch handlines and three 1 3/4-inch hose lines to fight the fire.
The fire extended to a neighboring building at 91 Mohr Street, which was occupied.
Broadway was closed in both directions between Memorial Drive and Millburn Street for almost three hours because of the fire, with the road reopening around 9:40.
An investigation determined the cause of the fire was arson.
