Buffalo man arraigned on murder charge after victim found beaten, stabbed to death inside her apartment

If convicted, the 29-year-old suspect faces a maximum sentence of 25 years-to-life in prison

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Buffalo man was arraigned Friday morning in connection to the murder of a 37-year-old woman inside her apartment this past Monday.

Savon Stewart was arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge Samuel Davis on Friday on one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class "A-I" felony).


It is alleged that on Aug. 7 at approximately 3 p.m. ET, Buffalo Police responded to an apartment complex on the 3400 block of Main Street in the City of Buffalo after receiving a 9-1-1 call. Officers found the victim deceased inside of her apartment.

The defendant is accused of intentionally causing her death by beating and stabbing the victim.

Stewart, 29, is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 9:30 a.m. ET for a felony hearing. He was held without bail.

If convicted of the charge, Stewart faces a maximum sentence of 25 years-to-life in prison.
