Orchard Park, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Buffalo man is facing multiple charges after an incident outside of Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park following Sunday's Buffalo Bills playoff game.
At approximately 6 p.m.,, deputies directing traffic had halted all lanes of traffic exiting Touchdown Drive on to Southwestern Boulevard to allow pedestrians walking along Southwestern Boulevad to safely cross Touchdown Drive.
That's when deputies observed a vehicle in the left exit lane cut in front of a vehicle in the right exit lane, and attempt to turn onto Southwestern Boulevard. The vehicle was immediately contacted by deputies due to the danger to pedestrians crossing.
The operator of the vehicle, subsequently identified as 37-year-old Dominique Tabb, refused the deputies' commands to stop, and proceeded to accelerate, striking a deputy and endangering numerous pedestrians.
The vehicle became stuck in traffic, and deputies were able to catch up to and re-establish contact. Tabb then refused deputies' commands to exit the vehicle and resisted arrest.
The deputy struck remained on post and completed his shift.
Tabb was taken into custody and charged with the following:
- Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree (Class "A" misdemeanor);
- Resisting Arrest (Class "A" misdemeanor);
- Obstruction of Governmental Administration (Class "A" misdemeanor);
- Reckless Driving (VTL misdemeanor);
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (Revoked) (VTL misdemeanor);
- Numerous VTL Violations.
Tabb was processed and released on an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Orchard Park Court.
"This was an extremely dangerous situation, and I am relieved that nobody was seriously injured," said Erie County Sheriff John Garcia in a statement on Monday. "We have zero tolerance for this type of behavior."
