
Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Police announced an arrest Wednesday following an alleged home invasion call on the 400 block of Voorhees Avenue earlier in the day.
Shortly before 10 a.m., officers from District D responded to a home invasion call, where the caller alleged two burglars were in his home and shot at him. He fled to a neighbor's house to make the 9-1-1 call to Buffalo Police.
Upon officers' arrival the caller was standing in front of the home, and notified officers he had a gun in his pocket, a Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun.
A bag the individual was carrying was also searched, and was found to contain drug paraphernalia, as well as approximately 7 grams of suspected cocaine, 22.6 grams of suspected crystal meth, and 9.5 grams of suspected fentanyl.
Over the course of the investigation, it became clear to responding officials that no home invasion took place.
44-year-old Lance Martin of Buffalo was arrested and charged on five different offenses, including:
- Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree (Class "B" felony);
- One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class "C" felony);
- One count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree (Class "C" felony);
- One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree (Class "D" felony);
- Two counts of Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the Second Degree (Class "A" misdemeanor)
The third degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon charge is applied to those who have been previously convicted of a crime.
