Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) A Buffalo police officer was stabbed and a suspect was shot Saturday afternoon during a confrontation at Broadway and Liddell Street, Deputy Police Commissioner Craig Macy said.
Police said officers were alerted to the suspect by a civilian. Macy said the man was carrying a box cutter and scissors.
During a struggle, one officer was stabbed in the back. Police used a Taser, but Macy said the suspect kept hold of the weapons.
The officer who was stabbed fired the shot, Macy said. The suspect was struck in the torso and hip.
Both men were taken to Erie County Medical Center. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening.
The incident was captured on officers’ body cameras. It will be reviewed by city and police officials.
