'This is intolerable', says Mayor Brown as Buffalo Police investigate fatal shooting of 13-year-old girl

The shooting took place around 12:30 a.m. ET Friday near Broadway and Mortimer Street

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - "This is unacceptable. This is intolerable."

An emotional and distraught Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown stood before the media late Friday, detailing the ongoing police investigation into an early Friday morning fatal shooting that took the life of an innocent 13-year-old girl who was leaving a party.

Police responded to the 9-1-1 call just after 12:30 a.m. near Broadway and Mortimer Street, where detectives say young female was struck by gunfire while outside.

Authorities say the Buffalo female was declared deceased at the scene. She has been identified by her family as Miracle Hunt.

Mayor Brown noted the girl was not the target of the shooting according to police information and he said there is good video of that incident.

"My message is to those responsible, do not be comfortable. Do not be comfortable."

Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia also said there is no information that would indicate the girl was the target of the shooting and he also said police are investigating whether stolen Kia's were involved in the incident that led to the shooting.
