Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo police have made an arrest in connection with a New Year's Day morning shooting.
Officers responded to a shooting at a gas station on the 300 block of Fillmore Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. EST on Wednesday.
Police say officers located an apparent scene of a shooting, but no victim. While on scene, officers were notified of a 41-year-old man with a gun shot wound to the chest walking into Erie County Medical Center that matched the description provided of a man in the store at the time of the shooting.
The victim was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say an investigation determined the shooting victim had initiated the incident, shooting first before being struck.
41-year-old Kacene Brathwaite of Buffalo has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Police are still seeking to identify the other men involved in the incident.
