Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) Buffalo police have released body camera and store surveillance video from an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven on Prospect Avenue near Connecticut Street that ended with an officer shooting the suspect, according to police.
Interim Police Commissioner Craig Macy said officers Ezgi Dilek and Nikko Pascucci were at the store just before 8:45 p.m. Wednesday when they saw the robbery in progress as they approached the entrance.
Warning: the video and audio released by the Buffalo Police Department of this incident may be considered disturbing.
Macy identified the suspect as 42-year-old Dejuan Williams. Police said Williams shot the store clerk in the upper thigh, pointed his gun and fired at one of the officers as he fled the store. One officer fired back, striking Williams in the arm.
Police said Williams then ran down Prospect Avenue, stole a car, and drove about three blocks north before crashing into several parked cars. Officers then took him into custody, Macy said.
Williams was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he underwent multiple surgeries.
The store clerk was taken to ECMC.
Williams was on parole at the time.
Both officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave.
