Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Pro Soccer announced last Friday that their new 7,600 seat stadium will be located at Elk and Lee street, rather than Downtown Buffalo.
Peter Marlette it., president of Buffalo Pro Soccer, says this stadium site will give the organization more options.
"With the downtown site, there was room for one Stadium and one field. We've got more than that here... it allows us to have a training facility on site, an academy facility on site, and a field that we can rent out to the community."
The Rochester Rhinos Football club previously built a stadium outside of the downtown Rochester area which contributed to the team folding.
Marlette jr. is confident that this will not be the case for Buffalo Pro Soccer.
"We're not concerned about that. But that's not just blind confidence. That's because when we were starting this process, over a year ago, year and a half ago, we talked to former Rochester Rhino season ticket holders. We talked to people in Rochester who experienced that, the one thing that we kept hearing was the location that they picked didn't work."
Marlette jr. adds that it was "absolutely essential" that homework was done while choosing the stadium location, and he is "absolutely confident" in the site.
