Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo Public Schools will cancel classes Friday as the cleanup continues following back-to-back lake effect snow storms. All weekend activities will also be canceled.
The district says the closure is because of multiple neighborhoods, especially south of Broadway, still having streets "that are unsafe for school buses to travel on, unpassable sidewalks, and high snowbanks that make it dangerous for students to walk to and from school. All students and staff are to stay home."
The Buffalo Schools closure is also leading other schools to follow suit.
CHECK: WBEN Closings
The district adds all Saturday and weekend events are also canceled. Those in need of assistance should call 211 for food needs and emergency shelter information or call 988 for mental health resources.
