Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Following the recent tragedy of the Main Street fire, which took the life of Buffalo Engine 2 firefighter Jason Arno, 7th grade students from Buffalo's Public School #3 came to the firehouse to show their love and support for Buffalo's brave first responders.

About 30 D'Youville Porter Campus School - PS3 7th graders presented Engine No. 2 with two banners, one in English and one in Spanish that read: BPS School #3 Loves & Appreciates Firefighters!

The sign also included over 500 signatures from the children from Pre-K through 8th grade as well as a signature from the Buffalo Public Schools superintendent, Dr. Tonja Williams.

"Even for a small emergencies, Engine No.2 has always shown up to help us," said Freddy Barrera, School #3 Principal. "I feel that they do feel our appreciation and that's why the students came. Sometimes I feel that fire fighting could be a thankless job and the acknowledgement that we give is important and sometimes not enough. We are here with them and for them."

"Being a firefighter is a very dangerous and important job to the community of Buffalo," said 7th grader Izabella Segovia. "We are here to show respect and love to our first responders."

The firefighters said they were very thankful that the students came out that morning and gave them a tour of their fire station and of course, the trucks.
