Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - As part of a long-standing Buffalo tradition, thousands of people flock to The Broadway Market on Good Friday to shop from dozens of local vendors.

WBEN spoke with Jamestown resident Jacquee, who was at the market on Friday, and she explained why she wanted to go.

“We come every year up here just to hang out for Easter and see what's up,shopping local, and check it all out.”

Local resident Christina was also at the market and she said, “We're just shopping for our Easter family gathering getting some sausage perogies, Sauerkraut. We’ve been here in years past, but we haven't been here in a few years so we thought we'd come out and check it out.”

One of the seasonal vendors, Shawn Thurmond from Glamorous Embellishments, expressed her excitement about having a stand at the market, and explained that it’s a great opportunity for her to represent her community as an African American woman business owner.

She later added, “It's just a great time. is a great atmosphere and it's good when everybody can just come together and just be in a good place. It's always a good thing.”

Another vendor, Thomas Poslinksi from Enchanted Cards and Gifts, was at the market and he talked about The Broadway Market tradition.

“Today's the traditional day where everybody just before Easter comes in and celebrates and comes and buys all their staples for the Easter table, all the baked goods, the meats, and they they decorate, they come to our shop to decorate with all the different things like eggs and, and things. So it's a special day for everybody,” Poslinksi said in an interview with WBEN.
