Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Byron Brown's last day in office as the Mayor of Buffalo will be Tuesday, as confirmed by city officials.
Brown announced last month he would step down as mayor to accept the role of president and CEO of Western Regional OTB. Mayor Brown was first offered the job of president and CEO of Western Regional OTB back on Sept. 5.
"My decision to resign and take on a new opportunity was not an easy one after nearly two decades as mayor. I have loved serving the people of Buffalo as mayor, but Michelle and I think the time is right to transition to a new role," Brown said recently. "I'm proud of how far we've come since I first took office as mayor."
Brown was first elected as mayor in 2005, and won his fifth term back in 2021.
The mayor will make his resignation official during a press conference Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. ET. You will be able to hear that LIVE on WBEN and on the Audacy app.
