Kenmore, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Cannabis Growers Showcase is now open on Military Road in Kenmore. The showcase will allow local marijuana growers to sell product with less restrictions than a typical dispensary.
Aaron Vancamp is the owner of Dank 716. He joined Brian Mazurowski on "BMaz and Beamer" on Friday with details on the showcase.
Vancamp told WBEN the differences from a regular dispensary are minimal with the biggest difference being the amount of product available. Vancamp describes the showcase as a "mini dispensary."
The Cannabis Growers Showcase is a state initiative that allows marijuana farmers to come together at select locations sell their product.
Vancamp says these showcases allow more sellers to enter the cannabis space.
"We're required to have three growers and one processor for each of these but one of the growers has to be someone that's not on our shelves, so it's really helping to bring people to market," Vancamp says.
A challenge for dispensaries, especially ones like the grower showcase, is getting the word out. Advertising law are strict when it comes to pot shops, but Vancamp says people are aware of the market. Customers are finding out by word of mouth and the market for cannabis is growing
The showcase will run until Dec. 31, with the potential to stay open beyond that date.
