CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WBEN).......In a pair of separate developments - each in an eastern and suburban Erie County town - may see more than $15 million invested by private sector-backed interests.
Ironically, both are on Broadway but several miles apart from each other.
The proposed developments include a new regional hub for Valley Tire Co. Inc. and a new headquarters for Buffalo Solar.
Both projects are seeking tax breaks and incentives from the Erie County Industrial Development Agency.
The projects:
* Chartleroi, Pa.-based Stankiewicz Enterprises Ltd. L.P. wants to invest slightly more than $8.85 million to build a 53,250-square-foot regional distribution and sales hub for Valley Tire.
Stankiewicz Enterprises is Valley Tire's parent company.
The project is slated for a vacant 12.39 acre parcel at 3419 Broadway in Cheektowaga.
Valley sells commercial and industrial tires for trucks and heavy equipment to both private and public sector clients.
The new building will see Valley Tire consolidate existing operations on New Babcock Street in Buffalo and French Road in Cheektowaga into the structure.
Valley Tire has 15 locations across the Northeast and Midwest.
Valley employs 21 people locally and plans to add at least two new positions in the new building.
Construction on the building will start this fall and should be move-in ready by next August.
* And, in Alden, Buffalo Solar is proposing to build its new headquarters on a vacant parcel at 12319 Broadway
Plans call for the development of the 12,760-square-foot Center for Energy Empowerment, a $7.14 million project that will serve as Buffalo Solar's new headquarters.
The building will incorporate such green energy initiatives as using ground source geothermal heating and solar panels.
Buffalo Solar employs 15 people.
Pending various approvals, construction will start this fall and the building should be tenant-ready by late August..
