Triple homicide investigation by Cheektowaga Police

Cheektowaga, N.Y. - Officials from the Cheektowaga Police Department investigate a triple homicide that took place on June 1, 2026 along Ellen Drive.

Cheektoaga, N.Y. (WBEN)......A pair of homicides that left four people dead including a mother and her twins were reported within one hour of each other Monday and may be connected, according to police sources in both Cheektowaga and Buffalo.

One incident took place at 43 Ellen Drive - an idyllic, suburban street in Cheektowaga where a Muslim woman and her twin, two-year-old children -were found murdered shortly after 3;30 p.m..


And, in Buffalo - on the 1000 block of Grant Street - a convenience store clerk was found shot in the chest and died shortly after police arrived. The Grant Street fatal shooting was reported around 2:30 p.m.

Sources say the same suspect may be involved in both incidents.

Buffalo and Cheektowaga police are working together on their respective investigations.

"Buffalo is in connect with the Cheektowaga Police Department," according to an official Buffalo Police Department release.

Cheektowaga Police Chief Brian Coons, in a prepared release, confirmed "an immediate investigation has been launched into this major incident."

Neither Cheektowaga or Buffalo police officials would comment beyond their release.

In Cheektowaga, there was a heavy police presence along Ellen Drive, with one block completed roped off.

"You'd never expect something like this in your own backyard," said Martin, who has lived on Ellen Street for 11 years.
