Buffalo, NY (WBEN) The Chick-Fil-A chain is looking to increase its WNY footprint, this time by placing a restaurant in Buffalo.
Chick-Fil-A is teaming up with Benderson Development to build a 5,000 square foot store at the Delaware Consumers Square in North Buffalo.
Common Councilmember Joe Golombek says while he's not a fast food kind of guy, he's open to it. "The devil is in the details of course," says the North district councilmember. "As long as they do everything in their power to follow the Green Code, I am open to it. I'm concerned about the traffic that would increase and the flow not only in the parking lot, but along Hinman and Delaware." Golombek says as he learns more, he'll have a stronger opinion on the matter.
Golombek says there's a Popeye's in his district that's also popular. "In one regard, I think it will be a positive. The other aspect will be traffic. I'm going to want to see what the specifics are, variances they're proposing, and things like that," notes Golombek.
Golombek says he's only seen the designs so far. He notes the Common Council has no power over this, but will send over concerns and comments from residents with the Zoning Board. The Zoning Board is set to take up the matter Wednesday.
Chick-Fil-A already has locations on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga, Transit Road in Depew, and is working on a location in Hamburg.
