Hamburg, N.Y. (WBEN) - Construction for FeedMore WNY's new campus in the Town of Hamburg is officially underway, as the first steel beams were erected Tuesday afternoon.

Public Relations Manager for FeedMore WNY, Catherine Shick, says the 197,000 sqft. facility is expected to cost no more than $107 million and should be completed by late 2026.

"We are installing our first beams that will be where our commissary is located. That is where we will be making all the prepared meals for our home delivered meal services as well as our community dining services. It's a great, wonderful milestone to be reached, and we're really excited as we continue to build the rest of the facility for our new unified headquarters," stated Shick.

The facility will serve multiple roles for the organization, and will incorporate new features to better assist those in need across Western New York.

"This new facility will include our larger warehouse, our larger commissary, more room for classroom and training, spaces for our free workforce development program, spaces for offices as well as places to grow our own food, whether that's through our hydroponic container farms as well as our community garden. It'll also include an area to repack food donations so we can accept more food donations and get those quickly out the door and into the hands of our neighbors experiencing food insecurity," Shick said.

FeedMore WNY has already raised over $80 million for the project, but they're still in need of donations.

"We are really welcoming anyone to get involved, whether you have a book club or a community group and you want to hold a fundraiser, or have us out to talk a little bit more about what it means to support this project. We are really excited to work with you, and we are excited to eventually have this new home in place so we can better serve our community members throughout Erie, Niagara, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties," Shick shared.
