Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Still stinging from Tuesday's general election losses - some expected and others not so much - Erie County Republican chairman Michael Kracker is ready to go on the offensive, not defensive.
"We do have to look at the local races pretty quickly," Kracker said.
Both locally and nationally, Republicans suffered more losses than victories.
One of he surprises: Williamsville Village Trustee Steven Meyer, a Democrat, upsetting long time county clerk and political insider Michael 'Mickey' Kearns.
"The one good thing this year is we did get new faces off the sidelines and into races," Kracker said.
That will help lay a foundation for 2027 - and beyond.
Especially next year with a wide open Erie County Executive's race now that incumbent Mark Poloncarz is not seeking re-election.
"I know there will be a post-mortem about what went right and what went wrong," said Rep. Nick Langworthy, a former Erie County GOP chairman.
Langworthy won re-election in Tuesday's race.
Kracker said he and GOP leadership are already working on the 2027 election cycle including recruiting new candidates and bolstering incumbents.
Except the Republicans to be very aggressive, Kracker pledged.
"WE are going to leave the singing and dancing for Mark Poloncarz," Kracker said,
