Alden, NY (WBEN) The Erie County Sheriff's Office announced today that 27 inmates within a specific area at the Erie County Correctional Facility have tested positive for COVID-19.
The Erie County Sheriff's Office says its COVID protocols were instrumental in identifying the symptoms and securing the housing area. The office says the first signs of symptoms, additional COVID protocols were activated, and restrictions were placed on the housing unit and its residents.
Deputies add employees and inmates are mandated to wear masks when within the facilities. Hand sanitizer and facial masks are provided to inmates.
