Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Cumulus Media has terminated the remaining morning show staff at 97 Rock following a recent racist segment on the rock radio station.
The decision, first reported by WGRZ's Scott Levin, comes in the wake of a segment last month during which the morning show discussed Black women's skin tones as compared to the darkness of toast.
Rob Lederman was terminated almost immediately following the incident and Cumulus now confirms it has fired Rich Gaenzler and Chris Klein. The station's longtime program director, John Hager, was also terminated.
In addition to losing his job with 97 Rock, Gaenzler was also immediately terminated by Pegula Sports from hosting duties with both the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bandits.
Cumulus released the following statement to media Wednesday evening.
"Upon further consideration following the racist incident that occurred on The Morning Bull Show, we decided to terminate the whole morning show in addition to the Program Director."
