BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) – The New York State Fair is on for this summer, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday
The annual event in Syracuse will take place August 20 through September 6. Cuomo said the event will run at 50% capacity and there will be separate areas for 4H, food and drink, carnival rides, and entertainment like concerts. The separate areas will help regulate the flow of traffic.
"We're going to understand the reality that we're dealing with but the fair will go on for the full 18 days," Cuomo said.
Because the fair is still months away, Cuomo said the restrictions will be revised.
"If things keep going the way they're going, they'll be revised up," Cuomo said. "More capacity, more flexibility. If we keep that COVID positivity going down and vaccines going up, you're going to see more and more economic activity."
Officials at the Erie County Fair will address plans later Monday afternoon.
