Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo police made an arrest on Tuesday afternoon following a fight at a daycare facility on the 300 block of Kensington Avenue.

At around 12 p.m. ET, officers say a 17-year-old female got into a verbal altercation with the director of the daycare over allegations of an employee harming a child. The altercation turned physical, and the 17-year-old female was pushed out the door in front of a classroom of children.

The daycare director, Mary Goodwill, 52, of Tonawanda has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second degree harassment. Throughout the day, police say more parents began showing up to the daycare facility because of a post on social media alleging harm to the children.

Representatives from Erie County Child Protective Services (CPS) and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) arrived on scene to investigate the claims made by parents.

The daycare voluntarily shut down for the week while OCFS further investigates. The Buffalo Police Special Victims Unit is also investigating.

The center is closed as the investigation continues
