BUFFALO, N.Y. (WBEN) All eyes on the Communications Workers of America Local 1133. A ratification vote is set to conclude Monday on a tentative 4 year deal with Catholic Health.
Ratification meetings were held over the weekend with the CWA bargaining committee explaining the tentative agreement and answering questions of members.
Voting ends Monday afternoon and results should be announced shortly after,
with nurses and other workers returning to the job by Wednesday.
In all, there are six contracts covering about 2,500 workers at three Catholic Health hospitals; Mercy Hospital, Kenmore Mercy Hospital, and Sisters of Charity, St. Joseph Campus.
The deal includes agreements on guaranteed staffing ratios, across the board wage increases, including bringing all workers above $15 an hour, and continued health and retirement plans.
Regarding staffing levels, the deal would supposedly ensure one worker for every four patients on the medical and surgical floors during the day shifts and at least one worker for every five patients on night shift.
Pickets outside the hospital were suspended late Thursday night as both sides announced a tentative deal on a new contract. That was day 35 of the strike against Catholic Health.
The tentative deal came just days after Catholic Health announced it was suspending health insurance coverage for striking workers.
