Hanover, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Tennessee man is dead after a single-vehicle crash on the 90 east in Hanover Monday night.

The crash was reported around 9:12pm Monday.

New York State Police say 54-year-old Petros Liben of Bartlett, TN was driving a 2020 Volvo OTR with a 53' trailer when he left the roadway on the north shoulder and crashed into a guide rail.

Liben suffered injuries to his face and abdomen. He was airlifted to ECMC where he would die from his injuries.

Eastbound lanes wouldn't reopen until 1:37am Tuesday morning.

One comment on a NYS Thruway Authority Facebook post noted seeing a helicopter overhead. Another commenter, who had been stuck in the backup for around 2 hours at the time of their post, said people had shut their cars off and were walking around on the roadway.
