Hamburg, N.Y. (WBEN) - 30-year-old Justin Trane has been sentenced to six months in jail, followed by five years probation for his role in the death of a 15-year-old girl in 2023.
Trane was driving drunk on McKinley Parkway in Hamburg when he ran a red light and struck another vehicle pulling out of a parking lot.
The vehicle that was hit was driven by 18-year-old Dylan Wiza of Williamsville, who investigators say was driving under the influence of marijuana when his vehicle was hit.
Wiza had two girls, ages 15 and 16 in the vehicle with him. The 16-year-old was treated for injuries at Oishei Children's Hospital. The 15-year-old was found unconscious at the scene, and later pronounced dead at Oishei Children's Hospital.
Both Trane and Wiza have been deemed responsible for the girl's death.
Trane had pled guilty to one count of second-degree vehicular manslaughter. Wiza pled guilty to one count of first-degree vehicular manslaughter and will be sentenced in October.
