Dunkirk, N.Y. (WBEN) Sick and tired of the cold and snow? We have good and bad news.

Predictions are in from furry forecasters and they seem to be in disagreement this year.

Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow early Monday morning in Pennsylvania, calling for six more weeks of winter.

Meanwhile, Dunkirk Dave, the pride of Chautauqua County, did not see his shadow, predicting an early spring for Western New York.

Bob Will, Dave's handler, said Dave made his prediction after eating some pumpkin pie on the ground outside his house in single degree temperatures. He added that the groundhog enjoyed the crowd and the clapping when the
prediction of an early spring was announced.

Dunkirk Dave has been providing Groundhog Day forecasts since the 1960's.

He is the world's second longest prognosticating groundhog, next to Punxsutawney Phil.

While the forecasts are mostly for fun, spring officially arrives on March 20.
