Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - It's an exciting day in Buffalo, as thousands of people are expected to, once again, flock to East Buffalo for the popular Polish post-Lenten holiday, Dyngus Day.

Dyngus Day Buffalo President Eddy Dobosiewicz tells WBEN this particular celebration is not like any of the other ones in years past in Buffalo.

"The buzz is about the eclipses, no question. But I think the real story this particular week is the pre eclipse, the shadow of the pussy willow bud will completely encompass all of Western New York. It's kind of a opening act. It's the precursor to the big show next week."

Dobosiewicz later added, "People are buzzing about Dyngus Day. For the last few months I've been fielding phone calls and emails, literally from all over the country. We have people coming in from Wisconsin from Arizona, from Florida, from Pennsylvania from Ohio busloads of people coming in from other states."

Jaquee, a resident from Jamestown, was shopping at The Broadway Market on Good Friday, and she shared her excitement to celebrate Dyngus Day.

"We celebrate it. I just like that they sell all the pussy willows here." She also added, "We came in bought some last year and still have them still have still have them."
