Niagara Falls, N.Y. (WBEN) An e-scooter rider was hospitalized with serious injuries after colliding with a car at the intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard and 47th Street on Friday, police said.
Police said the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. A 23-year-old man driving a 2009 Buick was traveling west on Niagara Falls Boulevard and was making a left turn onto 47th Street when the Buick was hit by an electric scooter operated by a 62-year-old man.
Witnesses told police the Buick had a green light and a left-turn arrow, while the scooter entered the intersection on a red light.
The scooter operator was not wearing a helmet and suffered serious head injuries, according to police. He was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where he was rushed into surgery.
