Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - An accident at Burgard High School this past Friday has led to the death of a local electrician.
32-year-old Jose Vasquez Jr. was killed late Friday when officials say he was pinned against a wall and trapped by a scissor lift.
Vasquez, a member of IBEW Local 41, was part of a team working on upgrades to Burgard's public address system, lighting and masonary.
A Buffalo Public Schools spokesman says Burgard was closed last week as part of the district-wide mid-February break.
The spokesperson did confirm that 9-1-1 was called, and both OSHA and the Erie County Medical Examiner's office are investigating the accident. The OSHA investigation may take up to six months to complete.
The districts declined further comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
Vasquez is married and has five children.
