(WBEN) The Erie County Sheriff’s office is investigating the homicide of an inmate at the holding center in downtown Buffalo.
A spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said an incarcerated person was found unresponsive in his cell at 11:11 a.m. Saturday. Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at 11:54 a.m.
The death is being investigated as a homicide. The Erie County District Attorney’s Office and the Office of the New York State Attorney General have been notified.
The spokesperson said potential suspects have been identified. Investigators have not released any names.
