Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A new exhibit unveiled this Wednesday at the Explore & More Children's Museum gives children the unique opportunity to learn about a Buffalo landmark steeped in rich history: The Broadway Market.
Featuring activities from building butter lamb puzzles to crafting 'playrogis', there will always be something to do for the kids inside the interactive exhibit.
"As you see when you go throughout here, kids can actually learn what a public market is and then when they move on from learning what a public market is, they can learn the rich cultural history we have here in Buffalo," said Buffalo Common Councilman Mitch Nowakowski.
The exhibit also features captivating pictures, stories, music and interactive storytelling programming that capture the essence of the many iconic and diverse vendors that occupy the space and more that will continue to be added as the market itself evolves.
"What you're seeing today is the beginning," said Explore & More Children's Museum President Michelle Urbanczyk. "And it's not done. So as you go to the Broadway Market, there's so many vendors. I was there yesterday, and so many vendors are like, 'We're going to add this, how about we do this?' So you're gonna see a lot of change over the next year. So what you're seeing today is fun, but just adding more and more and more to really celebrate the vendors that are at the Broadway Market is huge."
"This exhibit represents an invaluable educational resource, providing children in our community with a firsthand glimpse into the rich heritage and traditions that have shaped the City of Buffalo," added Buffalo Deputy Mayor Dr. Callie Johnson on behalf of the mayor.
The unveiling of this exhibit emphasizes Explore & More's commitment to celebrating the cultural heritage and community spirit that define Buffalo. Prior to this current exhibit, the museum's "cultural houses" had an exhibit dedicated to West Side Bazaar.
