Amherst, N.Y. (WBEN) Screams, cheers and high fives filled Amherst Pizza and Ale House on Crosspoint Parkway in Getzville as Sabres fans watched Buffalo close out its first-round series Friday night. The final 4-1.
It was standing room only as the Sabres faced the Bruins for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
It’s the Sabres’ first playoff series win in 19 years.
As the Sabres returned home at the Buffalo Airport, a large contingent of cheering fans awaited the team as they exited the parking lots.

For those passionate fans, Head Coach Lindy Ruff has only one regret, and that is that the Sabres’ home fans couldn’t watch them clinch this series on home ice.
“Would have really liked this game to be in Buffalo,” Ruff said. “It wasn’t. But it would have been special to have this game there.”
Buffalo will play either the Tampa Bay Lightning or the Montreal Canadiens in the next round.
