Buffalo, NY (WBEN) Hours after the Buffalo Bills announced the firing of Sean McDermott as head coach, fans took to the phones to give their reactions on WBEN.
Tyler told WBEN's David Bellavia he will have respect for McDermott for allowing him to see a playoff game in his lifetime. But he says the firing was long overdue. "It's been five years too long. The 13 Seconds game should have been the game he was gone," says Tyler. He believes the Bills lost their spark since that game in 2022. He adds every year, the defense doesn't finish against mediocre offenses, and Saturday against Denver was another example.
Dan hoped McDermott would return. "He's an admirable man, we all have to give him credit for what he's done for Buffalo," says Dan, who was hoping for one more year.
Another caller, Bobbi, believes another Bill should leave town to win a Super Bowl. "If Josh wants to win the Super Bowl, he better leave the Bills and go somewhere because it's not gonna happen," believes Bobbi of QB Josh Allen. "Every year, something goes wrong here, and Josh is a good player. He's going to be 30, let him go somewhere where he can win a Super Bowl.'
As the coaching search goes on, Dan nominates Bill Belichick as the next Bills coach. "What better way to make a comeback to the NFL," says Dan. He does admit he's trying to think outside the box. Belichick won multiple Super Bowls as Patriots head coach.
