Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A Lockport man is dead after colliding with a concrete barrier while riding his motorcycle, resulting in him being ejected and falling to his death from the I-190 on-ramp at Elm Street in Buffalo.

At approximately 5 p.m. on Wednesday, New York State Police responded to reports of a motorcycle collision on the Elm Street on-ramp to the I-190 in the City of Buffalo.

An investigation has determined that a 2016 Yamaha motorcycle that was operated by 32-year-old Galen Owens traveled on the Elm Street on-ramp to the Northbound I-190 at a high rate of speed before striking the concrete barrier.

Both Owens and the motorcycle became airborne after hitting the barrier, and the cyclist fell approximately 42 feet under the I-190 to his death. Owens was pronounced dead at the scene.

Owens has been transported to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
