Firefighter injured battling large fire on Buffalo’s West Side; Nearby home, cars damaged

Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - Buffalo firefighters battled a three-alarm blaze on Saturday morning on the city's West Side. The incident occurred just before 6 a.m. ET at a vacant home at 325 Connecticut Street, between Plymouth and Normal Avenues.

One firefighter had to be rushed to Erie County Medical Center. Officials say his injuries are not life-threatening.

The fire spread to an adjacent home, where firefighters had to rescue two individuals inside. Additionally, two vehicles parked on the street were also damaged.

Buffalo Fire Commissioner William Renaldo said 70 firefighters were needed to get the blaze under control.

The fire caused approximately $400,000 in damages between both houses and the cars. The Red Cross is assisting the affected neighbors.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
