Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – Buffalo Police Commissioner Alphonso Wright has placed five police officers on non-disciplinary administrative leave in connection with the ongoing investigation into Erie County Sheriff Narcotics Chief Daniel Granville. Granville is accused of a hit-and-run that occurred on April 11, 2024. The Buffalo Police Department's Internal Affairs Division is handling the investigation.

Additionally, police have issued Granville three traffic tickets for leaving the scene of a property damage accident without reporting it, stemming from the incident last year.

A special prosecutor from Niagara County has been appointed to review the case. Both the Common Council and the Erie County Legislature have requested investigations into this matter.
